Our Juniors Are County Champions Again!!
On Sunday 26th Sept the Cornwall Golf Union held the finals day at Porthpean Golf Club for the esteemed Bolitho Shield and Kernow Cup. All 4 Carlyon Bay teams qualified courtesy of winning their respective qualifying leagues during the last few months.
In the Bolitho, both Carlyon Bay teams won their morning semi finals against West Cornwall and The Point to set up an all club final. The team consisting of Alec, Hugo, Harry, Lizzy and Maddie overcame the tremendous challenge of Sam, Hannah, Charlie, Raymond and Quentin to win the final 3 - 1. Lizzy, Maddie and Hugo (foursomes) winning, whilst Harry and Alec halved their matches.
The Kernow Cup also saw 2 Carlyon Bay teams in the final, after both shooting the two highest scores in the morning Stableford competition against St Enodoc, The Point and Tehidy Park. Again we had a tense finale as the teams were all square after 17 holes. It took a 4 ball Betterball final hole to find the winner. The team of Ella Grace, Kian and Bradley played well to overcome Henry, Sam and James.
The venue was great, the food and hospitality offered by Porthpean was absolutely brilliant. Thanks must also go the CGU, Alan Lund for acting as starter and Matt Tucknott, the Juniors President for overseeing the whole day. A great day all round and congratulations to all our players. The club is very proud of you all!
