We are thrilled to host a variety of open competitions throughout the year, featuring different formats to suit golfers of all levels. These events offer a fantastic opportunity to experience our challenging course along the breathtaking cliffs overlooking Carlyon Bay - at a significantly reduced cost - while competing for outstanding prizes.
Charity Junior Open
Sunday 26th July 2026
In aid of the Children's Hospice South West
Prices vary between £5-£10
All entries are donated to the Children's Hospice South West, with the golfer's meal included in our clubhouse.
Open Betterball
Sunday 9th August 2026
Includes Cornish Cream Tea in the Clubhouse

Any combination of partners is welcome. Stableford, with ladies receiving 2 shots courtesy. Food will be available all day from the Clubhouse, entry includes a Cornish cream tea.
Mixed Pairs Open

18 holes mixed greensome Stableford. Prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes on 18 holes. Includes dinner in the Carlyon Bay Clubhouse.
Open Texas Scramble

Members £48 | Visitors £108 - price per 4 ball
Teams of four to enter. 3 drives from each player, ladies will receive 2 shots courtesy. Food will be available all day from the Clubhouse.
Poppy Golf Day
Sunday 1st November 2026
In aid of the Royal British Legion
Members £14 | Visitors £28 per person
Individual Stableford, ladies will receive 2 shots as a courtesy. Raffle prizes, including a 1-night stay at The Carlyon Bay Hotel. Discounted room rates are available and refreshments and food are available throughout the day at the Clubhouse.
Challenge Weekend
5th - 8th November 2026
3 nights Dinner, Room & Breakfast £405 per person per stay
In November, we play host to the famous Carlyon Bay Golf Challenge weekend, where we welcome golfers of all abilities for a few days of great food, great fun and, of course, great golf! With various competitions and prizes running throughout the weekend.

Our ever-popular Seniors Open takes place with the Betterball Stableford format and includes a 2-course meal served in the clubhouse with superb prizes awarded. With entrants from all over the South West, this is a great day of golf and camaraderie for Seniors throughout.
Air Ambulance Charity Golf Day

During June, we organise a charity golf event to support the fundraising efforts of the Cornwall Air Ambulance. This event encompasses delightful food, refreshing midway breaks, memorable team photos captured at the first tee, and an exciting raffle with unmissable prizes.

The Carlyon Bay Golf Festival is a week of fun, mixed competitions for both members and non-members. Jon Wilson, our Golf Secretary, will be coordinating the Golf Festival Week in July and his expertise together with the outstanding service of Carlyon Bay will once more prove to be a winning combination! Maximum handicap each competition: Gentleman 28 and Ladies 36.
