As part of our Centenary celebrations, Friday 11th September saw Carlyon Bay Golf Club come together for a very special Past Captains’ Day, celebrating the many individuals whose commitment, leadership and support have helped shape the Club over the past 100 years.
The day brought together an incredible 38 past and present Captains, with 30 taking to the course for a 9 or 18-hole competition, while other Past Captains joined us for the afternoon’s celebrations. With the ages of those playing ranging from 18 to 93, and 1994 being the earliest year of office represented, it was a wonderful reflection of the generations who have contributed to the Club throughout its history.
Blessed with good weather, our Captains enjoyed some great golf and, as proved by some of our senior players, you certainly don’t have to hit the ball miles - just straight! More importantly, the day provided a fantastic opportunity for old friends and fellow Captains to reunite, share memories and enjoy each other’s company during this very special Centenary year.
The competition was followed by a convivial Afternoon Tea, before prizes were presented and a group photograph was taken to commemorate such a memorable gathering.
